The Irish diaspora, whether they left by choice or necessity, number some 70 million. So do you fancy tracing your Irish roots? Well then, you’ve got the perfect excuse to discover Ireland and everything it has to offer.

Discover the same winding country roads as your ancestors did all those years ago. Researching your ancestors and your family tree in Ireland is a unique experience and a rewarding adventure.

Do you know the longest family tree can be traced back over 2,500 years? Or that the first genealogists in Ireland were poets and seanchaí/storytellers? Finding and seeing, firsthand, the locations and areas where your ancestors travelled, takes the connection to your ancestors to the next level.

Visit the churches where christenings and marriages took place, the locations of emigration from Ireland, and view some of the graveyards where your ancestors are remembered….

And even if you don’t have any Irish Roots you’ll still feel part of the Irish Family by the time you leave our shores!

Visit the restored Kilkenny Castle, which stands dramatically on a strategic height that commands a crossing on the River Nore and dominates the ‘High Town’ of Kilkenny City.

See Rothe House, a unique Tudor merchant’s townhouse, built between 1594 and 1610. The property is a lot bigger than it looks from the street and is now owned by Kilkenny Archaeological Society and home to their large collection of artefacts relating to Kilkenny city and county.

Continue through Waterford City to County Cork. Visit the Jameson Experience Midleton, home of Jameson Irish Whiskey. Guided tours through the old distillery reveal the story of John Jameson and the story of the number one selling Irish Whiskey worldwide. Take a scenic 20-minute ferry journey from Cobh for a visit to the impressive 104 acre Spike Island. In the last 1300 years, the star shaped fort on Spike Island has been home to heroes and villains, captains and convicts, red coats and rioters, sinners and saints. Cork is a city with a very rich historical and archaeological heritage much of it still in evidence today. Take a trip back in time and wander through the wings of the Gaol, accompanied by the shuffling feet of inmates and the jingle of the wardens’ keys.

Travel to Blarney Village to visit Blarney Castle and step back in time to feel the enchantment of a long and heroic past.  The castle is famous for its Blarney Stone, which has the traditional power of conferring eloquence on all who kiss it. In the late afternoon, travel to Bunratty Village in County Clare.

Tonight, you will experience Irish food and entertainment at the Bunratty Castle Medieval Banquet.
