Play Royal County Down this afternnon. The Royal County Down is one of the oldest Golf Clubs in Ireland with traditions dating back one hundred years. Its 18 hole Championship Course is rated amongst the ten best in the world. Royal County Down is a pure links, in the truest sense of the word. “My advice to anyone playing this great course is to keep it very straight off the tee – stray from the fairways at your peril! It is a tremendous test of golf and the outward half especially is as fine a nine holes as I have ever played” TOM WATSON

DAY 2 BELFAST – BUSHMILLS. Travel from Belfast along the famous Antrim Coastline. Your first stop will be the Giants Causeway – regarded as the “8th Wonder of the World”. The audio visual presentation in the excellent visitor centre will recall all the legends surrounding the causeway and you will be able to explore the amazing stone structure. As you drive along the coast you will also see Dunluce Castle – the ancient ruins provide a rewarding stop and fabulous views out over the sea.

For those who wish you can stop at the fabulous Carrick a Rede Bridge. Located just outside the seaside town of Ballycastle – the Rope Bridge is not for the faint hearted. The bridge is a working bridge to enable the local fishermen to reach the salmon fishery, which is on the tiny island connected to the mainland, by the bridge. Don’t forget if you are brave enough to walk over the bridge that you have to walk back too!

Your final stop of the day will be close to your hotel at the Old Bushmills Distillery, and you will have the opportunity to see this age old process of distilling at firsthand, and to try and taste the difference between the Single Malt and Black Bush after your tour.

DAY 3 ROYAL PORTRUSH Your second round of golf will be on the Antrim Coast at the Royal Portrush Golf Club. One of three ‘Royal’ courses in Northern Ireland, Portrush is steeped in history both golfing and otherwise, being overlooked by the ruins of Dunluce Castle. The only course in Ireland to have hosted the British Open, it is on everybody’s short-list of top Irish courses, a great test of any golfer’s shot-making and nerve. Founded in 1888, the club became Royal Portrush in 1893, with King Edward VII as patron. It was famous not only for its magnificent turf and superb golf holes but also for its lovely setting. The Dunluce Course is as fine a links as you will find anywhere with the 5th being a particularly memorable hole to a green hanging on the edge of a cliff. Look out also for Calamity Corner, the well names par 3 14th of around 200 yards.
