Dublin Named as UNESCO City Of Literature
Dublin City was recently named as a a city of literature by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNSECO. Its just the Fourth City worldwide to be bestowed with this honor.
In a statement, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Mary Hanafin welcomed the accolade, saying “Dublin has been awarded this accolade because of the rich historical literary past of the city, the vibrant contemporary literature, the variety of festivals and attractions available and because it is the birthplace and home of literary greats.”
