Baggage in excess of your free allowance may be carried on payment of the relevant excess fee, providing space is available. The amount payable is dependent on whether your allowance is 'piece' or 'weight' based and is calculated on the basis of your origin and destination points.
Baggage Charges between Ireland and the USA:
Effective from 01 February 2003, a charge of €50/US$50 will apply per piece of baggage in excess of the maximum baggage allowance.
The maximum allowance on transatlantic services remains at 2 pieces per passenger.
Please note that on all routes, the maximum weight of any one piece/bag must not exceed 32kgs/70 lbs.
The above regulations apply on Aer Lingus schedules services only.
Exceptions to the above will be for the carriage of necessary medical equipment, such as dialysis machines and wheelchairs. These items will not be subject to the 32 Kgs/70 lbs maximum weight allowance, or excess baggage charges.
Please note that in all cases, charges for excess baggage must be paid on departure at the airport.
