Kate,This was the trip of a lifetime. The tour was exciting, and the tour director was very informative and kept it lively and interesting. Your directions were right on and much appreciated. Ireland is absolutely beautiful. It truly consists of fourty shades of green (my favorite color). My husband also thought it was fantastic. He said one trip is not enough, he wants to go back. Wish we could figure out a way to live there and here in Salt Lake City. This trip was a present to ourselves for our 50th wedding anniversary. Thank you so much for helping a dream come true.

Hello Mary: My husband and I had a wonderful time in Ireland. Tony our tour guide was delightful; his commentary was perfect and entertaining. He had several great suggestions for when we were on our own. This trip was everything I was looking for and the time and company was perfect.
Thanks so very much to you organization, it helped make this a truly wonderful vacation. Best Regards, Gloria

SPECIALIZED TRAVEL SERVICES is THE ONE company you should deal with for all of your Ireland requests; they are a group tour company who specialize in creating custom Ireland trips. Group tours, private tours, destination management are all their forte, and the company has been in business handling ONLY IRELAND for over 35 years. I dealt with Katie Daly in their NYC office in creating 2 group tours to Ireland, and she was so responsive to all of my requests. They can arrange any/every sightseeing option, tour, hotel, special interest. Come up with a tour on your own and they’ll put it together for you, or leave it all to them.

I recommend them highly, and they recently got “shafted” by a group of mine which held hotel space for 6 months and then cancelled abruptly. Even then, they had incredible good grace and manners about the matter. I believe that they should be recommended highly.This company is a class act!

From Joe & Amy M. on August 8th 2011 - traveled July 2011
“Hello Mary, Me and my boyfriend were recently on your Best of Ireland Escorted Tour. We would like to extend our thanks to our tour guide for making our trip extra special. If you could please make sure that this is passed on to them also, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the wonderful trip to Ireland!!

To whom it may concern: Rarely do we find the occasion or need to sit down and write a letter of praise and appreciation for a tour guide, but Tony Timmons is the exception. We wanted to take the time to thank Tony for being our tour guide and making our first trip to Ireland wonderful and a vacation to remember.

We traveled to Ireland from the week of July 17th through July 24th. We first met Tony at the Dublin airport where he was there to greet us for our tour. From the start of our experience, he was professional, reliable and a man of his word. Tony exceeded our expectations! He communicated constantly with you and answered any questions you might have regarding the trip. He had excellent knowledge of the geography and he added a spark of fun to his presentations with his charming personality and quick wit. He also had excellent people skills and was perceptive to the needs of each person in the touring party, and ensured that any issues were dealt with promptly and satisfactorily.

We saw wonderful things and it was made even better by Tony who educated us on the history and culture of Ireland. We left Ireland knowing that our experience was exceptional compared to that offered by other tour guides. Tony was a great guide, a great person to spend a week with, and was also knowledgeable, personable, prompt and attentive and there was nothing he wasn’t willing to do for his clients. We could not praise or thank him enough for his efforts.
Sincerely,
Joe & Amy

Dear Mary,Mrs G. called yesterday to tell me they had a FABULOUS time! Each hotel was better than the last, including the Quay House, Mt Juliet was really a wonderful place to stay at the end, their dinners were all taken care of at the hotels and each meal was better than the last and every hotel greeted them and congratulated them on their anniversary/birthdays. They were just thrilled. Highest compliment paid? Mr G. never once asked to come home early. Let me tell you, that’s a rare compliment indeed from him! They ended up just pleased as punch with their driver. He knew the west coast up and down and even got them all to go over the Carrick-a-Rede bridge and walk the causeway. Needless to say the north coast was a favorite spot. The G.’s are not prone to over-the-top praise. They tell you when you’ve done a good job and that’s that. Bottom line? This was a job well done and I appreciate all your hard work and patience; I look forward to working with you again!

Katie, I want to thank you for all you did to make our first trip to Ireland so memorable. The hotels you selected were all very comfortable, though the Fairview Guesthouse in Killarney was by far our most favorite! It was the most luxurious of all the other hotels! The people who own it are very personable, had great location, and delicious breakfasts. We so enjoyed Paddy O’Donovan and his many stories and songs of his homeland. We were amazed at his knowledge of the history of his country that he shared daily with us. He was truly amazing! My only complaint is I did not get to see everything I had on my list to see, but I saw so much more that I didn’t even know existed! As Paddy said, I just will have to come back again, and that is exactly what I will do! We give him an A+, and please do let him know how much we loved him! Til we meet again, Donna

Katie…With your guidance at putting our trip together, my husband is a convert. He wasn’t excited about going to Ireland and now he’s ready to go back…the same way, with our own guide/driver. We’re hoping Eamonn doesn’t retire before we make a return trip.
From the time Eamonn picked us up at the airport and the fun began. He was so personable and knowledgeable of the area. After a short time, he knew what our interests were and planned stops which we would have never thought of on our own. Eamonn did some rearranging to keep us with indoor activities the one day it rained all day. He also pointed out some great “Kodak” moments.
His choices of restaurants and handling our reservations for several were outstanding. We had to remind our husbands, this was a “holiday”, and there would be no “Eamonn” when we returned to PA.
Accommodations were wonderful. I believe the thing which caught our attention the most was how clean everything was. No trash to be seen. People were so friendly.
Our favorite stops were Kinsale and Killarney. We loved the Fairview Guesthouse. We got to see Eamonn participate in some great Irish dancing.
I want to go back to Bunratty Castle and some of the others to find out how they got the huge furniture up those stone staircases.
The only thing to make the trip better would have been a longer stay! Dic and Sarah, Don and Susan

From Lauren R. on July 28th - traveled July 2011
Our trip was wonderful, we really enjoyed our tour guide and the two B&B’s we stayed at were very accommodating and in great locations. The castle was just gorgeous we really enjoyed the grounds and many of the activities the castle had to offer. We all enjoyed the views of the Ring of Kerry and was even able to meet some distant relatives of ours that still live in the same house that our great, great, grandmother was born in. The Smithwicks tour was very informative and something we all enjoyed. We all enjoyed the trip and are already excited to plan our next Ireland vacation. Thank you for all of your help, Lauren

Hello Mary: Just following up after our wonderful trip to Ireland. We can’t say enough about Kevin and how wonderful he was as a driver and host. He was friendly and cheerful and was most accommodating to any requests, volunteering to help us at any time to take us wherever we wanted to go. We felt safe with him driving and enjoyed the whole Ireland experience, the wonderful people, beautiful country and great golf - we will be sure to recommend your company to any of our friends who would like to travel there and will definitely return and be in touch when we do. Thank you again for all the planning you did and send our kindest regards to Kevin - a lovely gentleman, who enhanced our trip immensely!
Kind Regards, Tracey H

Katie, I just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for the WONDERFUL arrangements you made on our behalf. This truly was the trip of a lifetime and one that we will be remembering for years to come. In particular, the car and driver that we had from Cronin Coaches (Eamonn Devitt) were beyond compare. He was professional, courteous and went above and beyond expectations to ensure that our every need was met. All of the properties were superb and the service was excellent. And I am not sure how you arranged for 2 weeks of virtually perfect weather (only had rain twice), but thanks for that as well! ;-)
One suggestion for any of your future clients staying at Ashford Castle…the School of Falconry is a bit pricy, but worth every cent! My only regret is that we did not have another week to spend. Would love to have made it all the way up to the Sligo area…ah well…perhaps next time. Regards, Julie

From Alicia C (CT Travel Agency) on July 19th 2011 - Garden Group traveled in May 2011
Everyone enjoyed the trip immensely and I have had great feed back. We liked the hotels and their locations. Service was especially splendid in Killarney and Kinsale. We really liked these family/manager properties.
Our guide was extraordinary- smart, knowledgeable, pleasant and caring. And she knew her gardens- a real plus. Our driver was courteous, and above all competent and safe. The itinerary was well paced and planned. No glitches.
Sincere thanks to you and Margaret and the STS team who did the organization. I look forward to future trips with your company and am glad to recommend STS. Best wishes for a successful and enjoyable summer! Regards, Alicia

From Kay H. on July 18th - traveled June 2011
Our trip was wonderful. It is always amazing to me when things “work”. Everything was in sync. Flights, bus, stops of interest, etc. Weather was good and heard lots of relatives say they “learned a lot” Hotels were lovely. Tours worthwhile.
The guardian angel of out trip was Philip Duffy, our driver. He was always polite, patient, knowledgeable, and entertaining. I cry just thinking about how kind he was. Anyway, in my opinion, the trip would not have been so wonderful if it had not been for him. He couldn’t have done one more thing to make the trip any more perfect. I learned more from him then I would ever have learned from reading about beautiful Ireland. I loved his tales as he reminded me of my mother’s stories of Ireland. By his teachings the Burren came alive with history and his knowledge of the ruins and the beautiful Galway landscape made it all the more appreciated. I don’t think there are many bus drivers who would have us climb out of the bus and experience standing on a bogg, but I am so glad that he did.
I do appreciate you and all the work you put into making the trip so memorable. I have passed your email to some of the ladies on the trip and they may be replying also. Actually, a telling moment was when my nephew, Joe, said, ” I always knew my cousins, but now I KNOW my cousins.” I believe family is what the trip was about. Looking at the pictures reaffirms the beauty of your country.
Thanks again, Kay

From Marc A. on July 17th - traveled June 2011
Katie: The trip was phenomenal! We couldn’t have met nicer people both on the golf courses and everywhere we stayed. The weather perhaps could have been a little less damp and a little more warm (or at least not put us through all four seasons in a two hours span), but those things can’t be controlled. The golf itself was amazing - I can’t imagine six more picturesque and challenging courses. It seemed a constant challenge to try and decide whether to grab a camera or a golf club. I also must say that I’m so glad we gave ourselves time to visit Guinness, Jameson, Bushmills and the Giant’s Causeway. The latter took our breath away, literally and figuratively.
I know that someday I will go back - maybe the North courses again, maybe Ballybunion, Lahinch, Tralee and others, maybe some combination. When I’m ready, I will be in touch. Thank you so very much for all you did to make this an unforgettable experience.
Regards, Marc

Hi, Mary~ I am forwarding this wonderful email to you from my clients. Many thanks for all your help - these clients are not easy to please, and you exceeded their expectations. Many thanks for a job very well done!
“I just returned from a marvelous 10 day trip to Ireland; my travel agent used Specialized Travel Services to handle all the details on the ground in Ireland. I’d like to pay my highest compliments to your organization as pretty much everything went extremely smoothly from start to finish. In particular though, i want to let you know that our driver for 5 days, EAMON DEVITT, was truly exceptional in every regard…he had a thorough grasp of the huge amount of information relating to the many sites we visited….his personality typified what everyone loves so much about the Irish, i.e., he was genial, witty, warm and engaging…..the trip would not have been anywhere as successful if not for Eamon. He even stayed “on duty” an extra four hours one night so that we might enjoy dinner in Kinsale after which he drove us back to our hotel in Cork, certainly something that was above and beyond the call of duty!” Many thanks for a great job all around, Toni

From Jacqueline F. on June 28th 2011 - traveled May 2011
Katie, We had a wonderful time and even good weather. Also, our sights of Dublin were limited due to the Queen’s visit but we knew that from your message to us prior to our arrival. We did get to see her pass by while there that day and we enjoyed the sights we could walk to from our hotel, especially the dinner show. We would recommend all the hotels we stayed at and were satisfied with the accommodations and that includes breakfast each day. Everyone liked the Blarney Castle climb to the top to kiss the stone. It was also fun shopping for Irish souvenirs. We have our Waterford crystal bowl on display in our kitchen. The Bunratty banquet was entertaining. Mark and Doug enjoyed their day of golf. Most of all, Greg, our driver was friendly, informative on Irish history, made suggestions along the way, and drove us safely around the country. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable way to travel in our own coach bus. I appreciate the arrangements you made and your advice when planning the details of our trip. If anyone I know ever plans to travel to Ireland, I will not hesitate to recommend your agency. We have special memories now from this experience. Thanks for all your help.–Jacqueline

Hi Katie, Thank you to you & Mary. It was such an incredible trip and your preparations were amazing! Our favorite was Doolin and the Daly House. Susan was such a delight and we were lucky with the weather seeing the cliffs. It was truly such a magical trip. We loved everything you put together for us. Now we want to go back and do more of the south, we heard from so many people that Dingle Peninsula is amazing so hopefully one day…Thank you so much for everything. It was perfect!! Everyone was so nice, all the B&Bs were wonderful, the food was amazing and I really can’t say enough good things about Ireland.
Thank you, Anne

From Mike & Kathy M. on June 24th 2011 - traveled June 2011.
We just wanted to reiterate how much we enjoyed our tour of Ireland - we were so very impressed by the knowledge of our driver, his attention to details, his wit & his desire to ensure that we along with our fellow traveler had an absolutely grand experience - on that we will never forget. The journey, the attractions, the accommodations, and the stops were all amazing. But the personal touch that was brought to the whole thing was so delightful and enchanting.
Our driver’s many years in the industry were evident with the history and background he provided as we circled your lovely country. We asked a lot of questions and I do not believe we ever stumped him.
We imagine that all your tour guides are good at what they do; but we feel so blessed to have had a truly remarkable one as our driver, Tony.
Regards, Mike & Kathy

2006-2010 Testimonials

             “Wow, did we have a fabulous trip!! Thank you so very much for helping us with this vacation of a lifetime. It all worked out so well. Ireland is a beautiful country and we were very happy with the places we visited. No rain interfered with our excursions, so we could wander and enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes each town and attraction had to offer. Our accommodations at the Westbury in Dublin, Hayfield Manor in Cork & Adare Manor were all wonderful.
            Thank you for matching us up with our driver/guide Greg Creagh. He was outstanding! His passion for Ireland, his knowledge of the history, his familiarity with each town we visited was just terrific. He seemed to know everyone. His restaurant recommendations and advice at how to experience each venue was excellent. He was kind, respectful, attentive and efficient. He was not only professional in his service to us but we loved how personally he related to us. He knew all our names and bags after the first day. We were all surprised at how much he added to our experience. He made the trip seem effortless and we felt very safe in his care. We felt truly blessed to have him accompany us on this adventure.
               It was truly an outstanding and memorable trip for our family. We appreciate all your efforts. We will be happy to recommend STS in the future.” -Mary Ann M from FL, traveled August 2010

“The trip was amazing. We had an absolutely fabulous time. Thank you so much for your recommendations and putting the itinerary together. All of the accommodations were wonderful. We loved the Shelbourne and Dromoland Castle! Kinsale was my favorite stop on the trip. The map you sent us was priceless. We used it everyday, all day. We took so many amazing pictures. We have been raving about the trip to everyone. Thank you so much. We will definitely keep you in mind for our next vacation!” -Melissa B. from IL, traveled August 2010

“Hi Mary & Katie, I talked to my clients this week about their recent trip. They RAVED, about the drivers..could not say enough good things about them…hotels all great! Grandkids also rented bikes, and went from Newport to Mulranney to Achill Island and all had a fabulous time. Thanks again!” Nancy, Chicago Travel agent - clients traveled August 2010

           “I wanted to write this letter to express our sincere appreciation for all of your hard work and planning on our trip to Ireland. It was a truly wonderful experience and your choices of hotels and routes were splendid. It was a whirlwind trip, trying to cover an entire country in a week, but we did it, thanks to you!
           All of the hotels were great and the trip gave us an idea of where we would want to return and spend more time if and when we get a chance to go back again. And we well may go back because now our daughter is excited about going there. The crowning glory was the castle at Clifton, pretty hard to top! I also had a chance to find out a bit more about my Irish Gannon ancestors while we were there and, as it turned out, Clifton was a place where a huge part of the Gannon clan migrated in the late 1700s, something I’d never have known otherwise. So again, thank you!
           We cannot recommend you more highly, your travel arrangements were terrific and we truly appreciate all of your efforts. Our sincere appreciation and we look forward to working with you again in the future.” -Ruth G from CO, traveled July 2010

“Thank you so much for all that you did to help us plan our trip-everything was great! We especially loved Ireland & truly appreciated your travel suggestions. You were absolutely right-the beauty & charm of Ireland is in the landscape, the people, and the small towns, with their colorful buildings & gorgeous flowers. We really loved Dingle & Kinsale! All of the accommodations were great & the cars worked out perfect.
We realize that we could never have completed the trip planning alone & are so very grateful for your help in making our dream trip become a reality-a million thanks!!!” -Sue & Jim from IL, traveled July 2010

          “Our Ireland trip was great. Our driver David Breen was very efficient and really took great care of us. He checked on all of the accommodations before we arrived there to be sure everything was in order. He was an excellent driver and very professional. He had even checked earlier and asked if we wanted to see the “Martin” castle. My husband Bill did not know that his family came from Ireland and was thrilled to find books on the Martins and to see Ballynahinch Castle. He also took us to a sheep and dog show, which was very interesting.
          Loved Ashford Castle. Wish we had had another night there and our kids really liked it. The Bunratty Castle Hotel was very nice for our last night and we liked staying there. All in all it was a wonderful trip. Thanks for planning this for us.” Jodi M from FL, traveled June 2010

“Katie, the coach was fantastic–and our driver Mike was a great guy. The trip worked perfectly. We stayed pretty close to the itinerary that you provided. Mike had a big part in steering us to do things that we enjoyed, within the time frames of each day. Thank you for making it possible, we are already telling our friends that it is the only way to see Ireland!”

            “Mary: We are back from our trip. I just wanted to thank you and Specialized Services team for creating an unbelievably wonderful trip for our group. The highlight of our trip was by far our driver Greg Creagh. He was so helpful and delightful. He made the trip so much more fun and engaging for our students then I ever imagined it could be.
            I want to thank you as well for a great itinerary and for working with so many of the details. I was amazed at how easy you made it for me. The trip was so successful Mary that we are seriously considering repeating this next year (with a few changes). I hope we can stay in touch and that I can use your services again should we send another group.
           Thank you again for creating a wonderful trip for us.” -Mary G from MN, traveled with student Group in May 2010

“Mary, Just wanted to pass along some accolades, which you, and Specialized Travel were very instrumental in bringing about. Thanks to you and Katie for all of the help that you give me, all of the patience that you show, and for making me look good. “We sent you a card of Thanks just yesterday. The trip was far beyond our highest expectations. In addition to the weather, which was probably the best Ireland has ever seen, all of the advice you gave us, the lodgings you arranged, the travel plans for buses, ferries, cars etc. worked out perfectly. There was not so much as a hiccup of a problem. The places you recommended were all superb, from rooms to service to food. We walked a lot and met many wonderful people. The extended time gave us the opportunity to savor the countryside, culture and people. All in all, we couldn’t imagine a more wonderful vacation and it is one which we shall never forget, thanks to you!”-Binnie, FL Travel Agent -Clients traveled May 2010

You met us at the airport, with a smile and a kiss;
You whisked us off to Dublin without a single miss;
You drove through Cashel and Blarney, through the winds, the rain, the storm;
You did it all with laughter, in your classis witty form;
We stayed in Killarney, along a babbling brook;
Then you sailed us ‘cross the Shannon so we could take a look;
We fought the winds at Moher, but the view was worth it all;
Then you carried us to Galway where the pub echoed ‘last call’;
We’ve walked along the Abbey where the mountains met the sea;
We’ve seen peat and sheep and rolling hills, just what more could there be;
We’ve seen Westport, Sligo and Donegal and all were a bit sassy,
But the greatest music of them all was at the Silver Tassie;
We visited the Causeway where the view was something great;
Then stopped at Bushmills where shots of whiskey were our fate;
We set out toward Belfast to spend another night;
Then stopped at St. Patrick’s and New Grange, other incredible sites;
Our adventure ends near Dublin in a little seaside town;
Where we have to say goodbye to you and lay our journey down;
We will never soon forget you as we travel on life’s way;
For you have been our friend, our Guide, and brightened up each day.

I’m just wrapping up an 8 night trip for two to Ireland. I can’t tell you how great working with Mary @ Specialized Travel Services in Brooklyn, 800-664-7474 has been. I tried a number of other recommended operators-some said they’d get back to me with a quote the next day, it’s been 2 weeks and still haven’t heard from them. Mary got back to me almost immediately with a beginning quote which has changed considerably since our enthused young couple kept making changes. If you want to talk to her use my name and ask her any questions you want, she’ll have the answers. I hope this works for you as well as it has for me.

Hi Katie,
Just a note to say our trip was delightful. Our guide and driver was charming and knowledgeable and greatly increased our understanding of Irish culture and history. Our itinerary was just what we had in mind - we saw everything we wanted to see but never felt rushed. The hotels were great, comfortable and well situated. Even the weather was cooperative. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, thank in large part to your careful planning.

With much appreciation, John (traveled June 2009)

Hi Mary, We had an absolutely fabulous time. We loved all the accommodations-they were beautiful, great locations, and the people went out of their way to be nice to us. We were so lucky with the weather and want to thank you for your help. We’ve already begun saving for our next trip to Ireland. P.S.  What do you do when you’re not making dreams come true?  This was a vacation my family will never forget!

Best, Noreen (traveled May 2009)

Hi Katie
Just a short note to thank you and everyone at Specialized Travel Services for helping make our Irish Adventure such a wonderful experience. All of the arrangements you handled for us went flawlessly. The recommendations of accommodations were great. As well as the arrangements for trains and planes all made our travel effortless.

One can’t really visit Ireland, it must be experienced. We will be going back and when we do Specialized Travel Services will be the first call we make.

Thanks again,
Bob (traveled September 2008)

Dear Katie,
We returned from Ireland recently & just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time and to thank you for all our your help. All the arrangements and bookings went without a problem. The Davenport in Dublin was ideally located and the B & B’s in Kinsale and Bunratty were lovely. I’m glad that you convinced me to rent a car - although I found driving in Ireland a bit challenging, we certainly saw a lot more of the country than we would have had we depended on other forms of transportation. I would comment that the GPS was absolutely indispensable - not only does it get you to intended destinations, but allows you to do some exploring without fear of becoming lost. We got lucky with weather too - we had significant rain on only two days, one of them was the travel day from Dublin to Kinsale. Otherwise we had sunny days (an occasional shower) with temperatures in the 50’s. The people in Ireland were as friendly and graceful as everyone had said. We felt welcome everywhere that we went, whether in a small village or in Dublin - we thought that was the most extraordinary aspect of the trip. I doubt there is anywhere else that welcomes visitors so warmly. Thanks again for all of your help. We were very impressed with your willingness to work with our requests and your careful attention to details. We hope to go back in about 18 months to see more of the south and west - can we contact you again for help? I would be happy to recommend you and STS to others.
Thanks again,
David (traveled October 2007)

Dear Specialized Travel Services,
In August I took a trip with my son and his Scout Troop organized by your Company. In all it was a wonderful experience. I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your services and especially to pass on a good word about our guide and driver John. I really cannot say enough good things about him. Dear Ms Cronin,
I am writing to compliment your associate Katie Campbell for the highly professional way in which she helped us plan our week in Ireland. Katie was always cheerful, helpful and willing to go that extra mile in assisting our 6 member family. We had many conversations and she was always patient and pleasant. I would also like to applaud the work of your driver Tony Timlin. Tony was prompt, informative and understanding to the young ones in the group. Further, Tony is an excellent driver, safe and courteous…June 2005

Dear Maeve,
I’m sorry I did not have time last week to write to tell you how satisfied we were with the trip to County Cork. The whole group was very happy with the programme, for most of them it was their first time in Ireland and many of them want to come back some time and visit further. May 2006
