Begin your journey at Shannon Airport and from there travel north to Co. Mayo for your first 2 nights in Ireland- Located on the spectacular Atlantic west coast of Ireland, Mayo welcomes tourists with open arms. Traditionally fishermen have flocked to Mayo for fishing of all sorts, sea angling, coarse fishing and especially salmon fishing on the world famous River Moy. Other sporting opportunities abound including golf, hiking, cycling and mountain climbing. Mayo has a wonderfully varied landscape. A long coastline features superb safe beaches and all the drama of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. Romantic islands include Clare Island and Achill, Ireland’s largest island, which is joined to the mainland by a bridge. Ruined Abbeys, Friary’s and Churches are dotted all over the county, indicating the significance in the area in early Christian days.
