Tipperary Tour

(Full Day Tour)

This tour offers a variety of Irish Countryside with a visit to historical and heritage site and cultural sites, the tour travels over the mountain range with panoramic views of four counties from the Vee Gap.

View Lismore Castle, built on the banks of the Blackwater, the town has been a hub of Irish life since medieval times when St. Carthage founded a monastery here in 636. It later became a celebrated international school. Henry II chose his site for a castle here in 1171 and the growth of Anglo-Norman influence during the late 12th century marked the decline of the monastery. Lismore Castle is the private home of the Dukes of Devonshire and can be viewed from a distance from the bridge. The picturesque town of Lismore was substantially restructured during the 19th century and is now designated a Heritage Town.

Drive over the Vee Gap to Cahir Town Time for lunch.

In the afternoon proceed to Cashel, where we will visit the Rock of Cashel. The Rock of Cashel, a large outcropping mass of limestone, rises steeply above the rich pastures of the Golden Vein. The group of medieval buildings, which crown the Rock, catches the eye of the visitor from afar and is well worth a closer visit. St. Patrick’s Rock situated in the town of Cashel is crowned by the 13th century Gothic Cathedral, beside which nestles the unique Romanesque Cormac’s Chapel. There is also a round tower and a 12th century cross, the base of which is said to have been the inauguration stone of the Kings of Munster.

Return to Cobh via Mitchelstown and Fermoy and enjoy the lush farming lands of County Cork.
